Nana博士是一位来自美国的人类学家，在加州大学伯克利分校获得了博士学位。他专注的学术研究方向是是理解写作和语言概念之间的关系。Nana精通读、写、说泰米尔语、印地语、乌尔都语，当然还有母语英语。Nana博士于三年前来到中国，虽然他现在还不能流利地说中文，但是通过阅读（中英文版本的）《水浒传》、《阿Q正传》、《受活》和《斗鸡》等名著学会了阅读和书写中文。Nana博士主张：矛盾冲突、社会运动、英雄领袖—在课堂上，我们不仅要重温具体的历史事件，更重要的是，我们需要了解、思考历史事件发生的背景、历史书籍创作的背景等等历史事件背后的故事，进而使同学们能够更加全面、深刻地理解我们的社会，我们人类是如何发展到现在这个阶段的。Dr. Nana is from USA and received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. He is an anthropologist. Focus then, and now, he is concerned with understanding the relationship between writing and the concept of speech. Nana reads, writes, and speaks Tamil, Hindi, Urdu - and of course English. Since coming to China three years ago, though still mute, Nana has learned to read and write Chinese by struggling through 《水浒传》，《阿Q正传》，《受活》and 《斗鸡》。Conflict, movements, leaders - in the classroom, we don’t just look at History, we experience how writing creates the past.
